Book Tag: Book Buying Habits

Hello everyone! Another book tag today–this one’s a bit short on account of the fact that I don’t do much book buying, but I thought it would be fun to do anyways 🙂

1. Where do you buy your books from?

I don’t often buy books, but when I do, it’s usually from local friends of the library bookstores, Amazo, or from bookstores around my university (e.g. Half Price Books).

2. Do you ever pre-order books and if so, do you do this in store or online?

I used to do this a lot (primarily for new Rick Riordan books) through Amazon, but I don’t generally pre-order books anymore. The only book I’ve pre-ordered in the last few years is Rebel by Marie Lu, which I did through Barnes and Noble because I recently purchased a membership and it ended up being the same price as Amazon.

3. On average, how many books do you buy a month?

0-1 (like I said, I don’t buy too many books).

4. Do you use your local library?

Yes! When I’m at home over breaks I use it a lot, but when I’m away at school my library use is limited to my hometown’s eLibrary system (on Overdrive) since the public library is quite far from my dorm.

5. What is your opinion on library books?

I love library books, although getting a book from the library is not always the most convenient (for example, when I want to read a book that’s just been released or one that’s in high demand).

6. How do you feel about second-hand books?

I love second-hand books! A lot of my book collection comes from local library bookstores or used books from Half Price.

7. Do you keep your TBR pile on your main bookshelves or no?

No! I rarely buy books I haven’t read yet, because I prefer to only own books that I really love and will read over and over. I try to keep track of my TBR on Goodreads, but to be honest it usually ends up just being in my head or on random notes on my phone that I make when I hear someone talking about a book that seems interesting to me (it wouldn’t actually be that much more work to open up the Goodreads app and save it on there instead, but my brain usually doesn’t process that in the moment…oops).

8. Do you plan to read all of the books you own?

Yes! Well, except for a couple that have been gifted to me and I want to keep due to sentimental value, but have tried reading and couldn’t make myself get through.

9. What do you do with books you feel you will never read/did not enjoy?

If the book is in perfect condition and I think someone I know will enjoy it, I’ll gift it to them. Otherwise, I’ll either keep it if it holds some sentimental value, or donate it to my local library bookstore.

10. Have you ever donated books?

Yes! I’ve donated a lot of my old books (mostly those I don’t like or don’t plan to read) to library bookstores.

11. Have you ever been on a book buying ban?

Nope!

12. Do you feel that you buy too many books?

Nope!

If you want to do this tag, I tag you! If you mention me in your tag, I’ll be sure to take a look at it 🙂

That’s all for now–thanks so much as always for reading, and I’ll see you again soon!
